WORKSHOPS

Τα μέλη του Προγράμματος «Οικονομία και Κοινωνία στην Ελληνιστική και Ρωμαϊκή Εποχή» του Τομέα Ελληνικής και Ρωμαϊκής Αρχαιότητας, ΙΙΕ/ΕΙΕ, διοργάνωσαν στο πλαίσιο του ερευνητικού προγράμματος «Αναβαθμίς» τρία Εργαστήρια Μελέτης/Workshops με θέμα την οικονομία της Ηπείρου κατά την ύστερη ελληνιστική και ρωμαϊκή περίοδο. Οι ομιλίες του δεύτερου επιστημονικού εργαστηρίου επικεντρώθηκαν στα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα που σχετίζονται με την οργάνωση της υπαίθρου στους ύστερους ελληνιστικούς χρόνους και τη ρωμαϊκή περίοδο.

The members of the Programme “Economy and Society in the Hellenistic and Roman Periods” of the Section of Greek and Roman Antiquity, IHR/NHRF organized within the framework of the research program “Anavathmis” three Workshops on the economy of Late Hellenistic and Roman Epirus. The third and final workshop, which was successfully organized online, completed this series of very interesting meetings and highlighted the importance of cities and large settlements and their relationship with the suburban agricultural zone. More than twenty academics, researchers and archaeologists from the ephorates of Epirus took part as guest speakersin the three Workshops. The members of the Programme are also planning to publish a collective volume on the economy and society of western Greece in the Hellenistic and Roman Periods.

Στο πλαίσιο του έργου “Ορολογία των Βυζαντινών και Μεταβυζαντινών Σταχώσεων” διοργανώθηκε στις 17 Ιουνίου 2020 διαδικτυακό σεμινάριο με σκοπό την παρουσίαση του ερευνητικού προγράμματος “Το Βιβλίο στο Βυζάντιο. Βυζαντινή και Μεταβυζαντινή Βιβλιοδεσία” που υλοποιείται από το ΙΙΕ (και τέως ΙΒΕ) από το 2002 και το οποίο συμμετέχει στο πρόγραμμα ΑΝΑΒΑΘΜΙΣ με βάση δεδομένων για την ορολογία της βυζαντινής και μεταβυζαντινής στάχωσης, ηλεκτρονικό βιβλίο κλπ. Στο διαδικτυακό σεμινάριο έλαβαν μέρος οι: Νίκη Τσιρώνη (ΙΙΕ/ΕΙΕ), Κωνσταντίνος Χούλης (Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Αττικής), Γιώργος Μπουδαλής (Μουσείο Βυζαντινού Πολιτισμού), Γιάννης Κόκκωνας (Ιόνιο Πανεπιστήμιο), Ζωή Γκιννή (Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη Ελλάδος) και Αγγελική Στασινού (Γενικά Αρχεία του Κράτους), παρουσιάζοντας πτυχές της μελέτης της βυζαντινής και μεταβυζαντινής στάχωσης. Το σεμινάριο παρακολούθησαν 300 άτομα.

The study of alchemy in Byzantium has been advancing during the last few decades, as indicated by the gradual increase in the number of publications, research projects, and doctoral dissertations that examine (or include the examination of) alchemical topics in a Byzantine context. This workshop was the first scientific event that focused exclusively on alchemy in Byzantium and delved systematically into various of its dimensions. Building on the dynamics of the field, it provided an interdisciplinary platform for discussion between scholars specializing in Byzantine alchemy and scholars from diverse fields whose knowledge and insights substantially aided the understanding of the peculiarities of alchemy in Byzantium.

The workshop was held virtually on 9–10 November 2020. It was an activity of the research project “Alchemy in Byzantium” of the Institute of Historical Research, National Hellenic Research Foundation (coordinator: Gerasimos Merianos).
